Mengejutkan sekali bila Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, selaku Presiden PKR, secara terbuka menghentam teruk Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad di dalam wawancara beliau dengan wartawan CNBC, Martin Soong, semalam. <\/span><\/p>\n

Paling besar implikasinya ialah bila Datuk Seri Anwar kini mendakwa Tun Dr Mahathir memungkiri janji dan mengaku beliau sekarang sudah tidak lagi percaya kepada Tun Dr Mahathir. <\/span><\/p>\n

Soalnya ialah bagaimanakah Pakatan Harapan akan masih boleh bekerjasama dengan Tun Dr Mahathir bila Datuk Seri Anwar, yang merupakan Presiden Pakatan Harapan, sudah tidak lagi percaya kepada Tun Dr Mahathir? <\/span><\/p>\n

(1) \u201cMahathir akan terus menyanggah diri sendiri\u201d (\u201cMahathir would continue to contradict himself<\/em>\u201d). <\/span><\/p>\n

(2) \u201cMahathir buat janji dan memungkirinya\u201d (\u201cMahathir makes promises and reneges on them<\/em>\u201d). <\/span><\/p>\n

(3) \u201cSaya sekarang tidak lagi percaya Mahathir\u201d (\u201cI now no longer believe Mahathir<\/em>\u201d). <\/span><\/p>\n

(4) \u201cSaya ingat Mahathir jujur\u201d (\u201cI thought Mahathir was sincere\u201d)<\/em>. <\/span><\/p>\n

(5) \u201cSaya terima Mahathir berdasar gambaran luaran\u201d (\u201cI took Mahathir at face value<\/em>\u201d). <\/span><\/p>\n

(6) \u201cSaya ingat Mahathir berubah dengan usia, dengan kebijaksanaan\u201d (\u201cI thought Mahathir changes with age, with wisdom<\/em>\u201d). <\/span><\/p>\n

(7) \u201cSaya mohon maaf (kepada para penyokong saya)\u201d (\u201cI apologise [to my supporters]<\/em>\u201d). <\/span><\/p>\n

(8) \u201cSaya silap (dalam menilai Mahathir)\u201d (\u201cI was wrong [in assessing Mahathir] <\/em>\u201d). <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTun Mahathir Mohamad, nobody rules him out yet, he came out just recently with a statement, and this is not the first time he said it, saying that the problem in his mind was that yourself, Datuk Seri Anwar, you were too impatient to take over as the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Is that true? Is that fair?<\/em>\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim: <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNever mind. Mahathir would continue to contradict himself, and makes promises and reneges on them, so I don\u2019t think it is fair for me to say more. But what is important is everybody knows that I have waited for 21 years, I mean, an impatient man wouldn\u2019t have waited that much. Number two, I have given him the opportunity the latitude to govern without interference, right. Number three, he questioned my role in trying to get all the races together. I am a Malaysian, I am a Malay Muslim, the majority is of course Malay Muslims, but my Chinese, Indian, Iban and Dayak friends are part of my family in Malaysia. And you don\u2019t tell me after 62 years of independence that I don\u2019t need a multiracial party.\u201d <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Martin Soong: <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOne of these questions that I always wondering myself over these years is whether or not you actually believed Tun Mahathir Mohamad\u2019s promise to hand over power to you to allow you to become a Prime Minister eventually? Do you still believe him<\/em>?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim: <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWell, not now. But then I thought when he came, he was, he seemed to be quite sincere, came to see me when I was in prison, in the courthouse, and appealed for my support and said, \u201cLook, Anwar, we have to work together\u201d and made promises in private, in public, signed documents. What else? I mean I am just a human and I take people at face value and I think people do change with age, with wisdom, but I am not necessarily right always and in this particular case I apologise. I was wrong. No regrets<\/em>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
